Technology Failure

I apologise for the lack of posts recently but my camera has taken a turn for the worse, it somehow seems to be dying after about 20 photos!!  I know it's not the batteries as I bought brand new ones at the weekend (which were pretty pricey at £7 for 4 Lithium AA batteries!!) and in less than 48 hours the camera wouldn't turn on anymore.  Now I checked the batteries and they still had plenty of energy to power a torch so I can only deduce that the problem is with the voltage.  It's so upsetting, I remember the time this camera would last for 3 months on one set of batteries, now it's less than 3 days.  Oh well, I suppose I shall have to send it away to be examined by the professionals and in the meantime I will have to borrow my dad's.  Which isn't all that bad as he has just got a brand new one, which also has video yay!!

I am looking forward to taking lots of pics and maybe some video too on my trip to Germany this weekend to see my good friend Scott in Munich.  I can't wait to see him, the last time was over the Christmas holidays.  I've been told the Starkbierfest beer festival is on at while I'm out there, which will be great fun.  I'm not sure if I like strong beer but I will try anything once!!

I hope there are crazy ladies like this serving me beer, how is she holding four in each hand??

Birch Hill and Hanworth Community Website

Apart from all my crafty endeavors I am currently work on some graphic design projects for my local community.  After Uni and before my current job I payed my way designing anything from ceiling tiles, to murals, logos, presentations and websites (I will have to hunt out some photos).  I love this kind of work and so I don't forget my skills and to keep my portfolio up to date I am currently in the process of designing a community website for Birch Hill and Hanworth.  The site is the idea of our local PCSO (Police Community Support Officer), it is intended for the local community to share news, events and information of business' in the area. There will also be a monthly newsletter to go with it.  I am currently in the process of finalising designs but I wanted to share a sneak peak of the site and logo.

I am not a web designer, that is where my brother Chris comes in.  He is at present finishing his final year at University to become a fully fledged web designer.  He is developing this site as a bit of a favor to me, so thank you Chris!

Anyway I will update you shortly on developments, hopefully it will be up and running in a couple of months time.  Oh and if you or your friends have an event happening or a business to promote in the area, then you can upload up to 140 characters for free!! Buzzy Bee T-shirt

My friend Gemma and I decided to have a crafty weekend so I took my freezer paper and supplies to hers along with a Chinese and a nice bottle of white.  It took us a while to come up with an idea but we soon found a very cute picture of a cartoon bee on the internet so drew it onto the freezer paper and got down to crafting.

Because the design was in three colours we started with the lightest.  We carefully cut out the design and ironed it onto the t-shirt to paint on the first colour yellow.

It took quite a while for the paint to dry so we sped it up with a hair dryer on low heat.  Then we cut out the stripes and and face to iron over the top of the yellow paint and painted on the red cheeks and black outline.

We had to put a couple of layers of black over the yellow to cover it completely but then had to leave it for a couple of hours to dry.  The result was amazing, much better than I had expected isn't she so cute!!  

Now that I know this works with several colours I can't wait to think up some more ideas.  Thank you Gem for a wonderful evening, can't wait to have more crafty nights with you!!
